(2014) RF power meter
Due to an increased amount of work done on RF-equipment, I needed a way to accurately measure the power of a given RF-source. Rather than buying a commercial product, I decided to go for a DIY solution.
Using a AD8317, it should be possible to get an accurate power-meter to 8-10GHz. With final full calibration, the accuracy ended up around +/- 0.2 dB to 3.3GHz.
An initial prototype was made, to play with the hardware.
The impedance match is checked and the calibration set done using a calibrated RF generator.
To make the calibraiton, the values dependent on frequency/power and output-voltage is plotted. A plante is fitted to the plot-data, which is used as calibraiton reference.
The final fit used can be seen below
A GUI was made for easy use and to apply calibration values.
